Vertical Jump

Hey all, im trying to increase my vertical jump as you can probably tell. Im looking for some advice on what specific exercises i should do from any one who has considerable experience with this. Right now its about 22 inches

ideally you should do squats, and do them fast and hard. do them fast and hard to activate the fast-twitch muscle fibers, which are the same ones you use when you jump. training jumps with slow squatting isnt as effective as this. also some ppl say do calf raises, but i fail to see how that will improve your vertical at all rather than overtraining your calfs.

You can use a machine called a Velocity Builder. You are strapped down by elastic and you just jump. Keep on with that and you will soon find you can jump a little higher.

Don't bother with machine and gimmicks (shoes, ankle weights, whatever bs).

The key is to increase your power

like the previous gentlemen said: weights and plyo will help

a good squat routine to try is the box squat

something liek 50% of your 1RM and just do 2 reps in 2 seconds for 10 sets

be careful with plyo though the impact will easily overtrain you
