Reading the story of Earl P Haney. He was so worried ulcers began eating the lining of his stomach. One night he had a terrible hemorrage. He was rushed to hospital. He had lost 80 pounds. He was so ill, he was told not to even lift his hand. Three doctors including a celerbrated ulcer specialist said his case was incurable. He lived on alkaline powders and a tablespoon of half milk & half cream every hour. A nurse put a tube into his stomach every night and morning and pumped out the contents.
This went on for months. Finally he decided...if he had nothing to look forward to...he might as well travel. He told the physicans he would travel the world and pump out his own stomach twice a day.
They were shocked and told him he would die, if he travelled the world.
He says the moment he boarded the ship heading to the orient he began to feel better. He gradually gave up his alkaline powder and stomach pump. He was soon eating all kinds of foreign cuisine that were guaranteed to kill him. He even smoked long cigars and drank alcohol. He enjoyed himself. He made friends on the ship..stayed up all night playing cards. He encountered typhoons that were predicted to put him in his grave. He got a massive kick from the adventure.
When he reached china and india he realised his own life in usa was paradise compared to the poverty and hunger in the orient!
When he got back to usa...he had gained weight & had almost forgotten about his stomach ulcer. He had never felt better in his life. He went back to buisness and never felt ill again a day in his life.
I find that AMAZING.
