To all the students - how do you study?

Let me know guys, how do you study? whats your motivation, and how many hour a day do you read?

Re read notes that are organized for 2 hours a day for 3-5 days before an exam. Make sure to not cram in anything before an exam , never second guess , and quiz yourself.

I am back into the swing of things for 6 months, and have to pass qualifying exams. The material is mostly rote memory so here is how I do it.

Condense everything into one place. Its more bullet form of what I need to know. I use a white board and try and spit it out verbatim until I get it mostly right. This takes as long or as short as my memory allows.

As of now I spend a few hours a day studying at a slow pace, and a few hours before quizzes and tests going over everything. I study when I need to and stop when I don't and am 'burning out' at a much slower rate than my peers. (they study more than I do)

This is going to sound arrogant, but I hardly studied at all. I really crammed 2 days before most exams and it got me through.

Did B.Sc and M.Sc in Computer Science. Given my history as a computer nerd there were a lot of classes which I didn't have to study for (and attend) at all.

I nearly failed some classes though because, yes, I was that lazy.

Only got second class honours, but I had work experience from internships, so I easily found a high-paying job. Thing is, now I have to work full time, I miss all my free time

My winning strategy was: better have a beer the night before the exam (I'm German after all), rather than worrying and not sleeping. Never rehearse your notes directly before the exam. Better spend the last 15min with meditating or socializing. Empty your head, smile. It will boost your confidence (and probably impress your classmates), and you will perform WAY better, whereas your friends are shaking so hard they can't even hold the pen. Come to think of it, the same thing applies to performing on a stage, or approaching girls.

So game your exams as you would game your girls!

Only time I ever study = day before the test. Never pay attention in class. Matter of fact I'm in class NOW.

2 months away from a Masters in Business Administration with a 3.2. Have a Bachelors in Accounting. How I did it? I don't know!

fwiw to anyone, the law student method of studying is to take notes all semester, then near the end of the semester before the all-important final exam, you condense all of the notes into outline form, maybe 10-20 pages. After studying that, you condense the outline into a one page "attack outline" of what you still haven't learned. Then you study the attack outline until you can flip over the paper and re-write it on the back of the page.

6 hrs per day, 4 days a week. Cram before the exam. Not the best student. DMAA helps.

DMAA is being banned for heart murmurs, narrowing veins, and possibility of other cardiovascular related issues... id hop off that real fast man. And why the hell do you study 6 hours a day. Im a biochem major and only study about 2-3 hours a day 4-5 days before a test. Its a bad idea to do to much at once, if you burn yourself out then you wont want to study the next day

I have a masters degree and I never studied except 1-2 days before an exam. Here's what I usually did:

1. Take really good notes in class. The notes will often be the backbone of most exams especially if it's a subject in the social sciences such as History.

2. Skim the textbook and memorize the major points of each chapter. They're typically bolded in the textbook and emphasized on the last page of each chapter in a summary section if you're an undergrad. Reading everything word for word in the book is too time consuming and can give you information overload.

3. Get some caffeine. I would drink a 2 liter of root beer while studying to help me stay awake.

4. Study in 30 minute intervals and take a 5-10 minute break every half hour.

5. Masturbate before studying. This will calm you down and prevent your mind from wandering while you study.

From my experience most of my instructors usually say things like "Its probably a good idea to write this down" or "That might be nice to know" or something similar. Simply amazes me how many people still fail. One last note is when the instructor ask the class a question and nobody answers that same question is asked again on an exam.

On a serious note though, I wrote the bigger part of my Bachelor's Thesis while drinking the cocaine tea a friend brought from Bolivia. Had some weird dreams... although probably just because I was nervous. Don't think the tea has any actual effect.

That's the hardest class you can take.

It doesn't take that long to study. Just study for the test and never miss homework. You'll get at least a B in every class. If a class has terms and definitions in a textboot, make sure you know those. If you do, it'll be super easy.
