I live where it has been legal for about 6 years now.
The only downside to legalization is that people might become bigger users which drives down productivity in general, but it's not like making it illegal makes it go away. Legal weed means higher quality product at lower prices and more taxes for the government.

You feel it's a bad idea because you've been brainwashed to think that way by the Government making it look worse than it is through propaganda and making it illegal. It's the safest drug out there, you cannot overdose on it, but like everything in life, moderation is key. As heavy use can cause health issues down the road in some users. They know it's a natural drug with many positive effects which is an enemy to big pharma and the medical industry. They dont want that type of natural herb legalized because of it's medicinal properties cause they lose money because anyone can grow their own medicine.
They don't study/research it on a mass scale because they know it will show how beneficial of a plant it really is for things like cancer. They could not stop the overwhelming amount of users so instead they decide to legalize in order to cash in and screw the consumer with high taxes (in some states). The same people who told you it's bad are now are investing in it.
Ask yourself why cigarettes are legal but kills millions per year. Why? It makes the medical industry & big pharma billions in cancer and respiratory treatments. It's a massive money maker. Ask yourself why are they allowed to add all those harmful chemicals to the tobacco? Because it increases the chances of causing cancer which will make them billions.

I’ve never personally known an adult pothead who wasn’t kind of a loser. People insist and swear until they’re blue in the face “I know billionaires who smoke weed all the time!!” but I’ve never met one.
It makes you lazy and lethargic. It’s easier to abuse than alcohol because it doesn’t impair fine motor skills and being under its influence can be concealed easily.
In places where it’s legal, there’s a seedy element that’s always close by.
The pros, of course, is that people who are stoned on weed aren’t out being violent or doing dangerous sh!t. Cops don’t get calls to respond to a stoner who hasn’t left his couch all day.
I personally don’t think it should be openly legal, but I don’t think minor possession should be a criminal offense.

I don’t mind legalization though. Just prefer that it not include public places like restaurants and bars. If people want to smoke at home, that’s fine.

Legal to me means no government regulation at all, and I don't think that exists anywhere yet. A lot of the legal weed sold in the us is total garbage, low potency and full of heavy metals and various toxic residues. Call that sh1t "medicine' is a horrible joke.

I dont use it, not yet at least but I fully support a free for all legislation.
People will smoke regardless of the law therefore its pointless to deprive the government from potential taxation if sold in shops or a safer product overall so people wont get sick and no one has to pay the hospital bill.
Also I dont understand how can you jail someone for selling a kinda safe product to someone who willingly buys it and such product has no effect on third parties.
As long as its made clear that stoned people cant drive or take responsibilities toward others within a day of usage, I dont see anything wrong in that.

Because the government wants to control everything. Like you, I don't use it. But I can't see any argument for weed being illegal when alcohol is not only legal, but is deemed "essential" during pandemics. I would think between the two, alcohol is far more harmful, and it isn't even close.

Virginia where I am just legalized possession this year. Sale remains illegal until 2024 when regulations will be in place and shops will open up. Well, unless you have prescription. Then you can get the medical stuff here. It can be gifted to you though. Allowed 4 plants a household. Seeds cannot be sold either, but can be gifted.
