Hi friends.
We often talk about how we men have to change ourselves, our way of doing things and our nature to be successful "on the ladder".

Well, here are some testimonies from people who have reached that ladder, and who have decided that returning "intact" would have been a better choice

It was easy. I turned 40, realized I had no real wants (I don't have a house but I don't really want one) and that ultimately financially I was fine. With that in mind I took a look around my colleagues and saw the ones trying to climb the ladder were conniving and manipulative little worms, and the ones that had recently climbed it exhibited nothing that inspired to be like them. They were all boot licking, overworked, stressed, and boring. Happy I stayed where I was.

39 and I no longer care. I did through my 20s and 30s, but I've seen some absolutely demonic behavior from people in corporate world over the last decade and I don't want that.

After climbing the ladder quite aggressively I've seen the **** which goes on at the level I was aiming for and it ain't worth it. If I could find a comfortable job at my current level until retirement I would be happy with that.

I did, you just get tired of the bull**** and office politics.

I mean what's the point of all that ass kissing just to get rewarded with more work and being scrutinized?

It's the climbing the ladder that you're over and smart enough to figure out it's a scam. Build something you're proud of and be with your family

Me too. I started my career, got promoted 4 times into management. I was working extra hours stressed and angry almost every day, and my wife was 7 months pregnant. My father once told me the biggest regret of his life was that he worked too much when I was a kid. I didn't want to make the same mistake or be an angry stressed father. The extra money was not worth it. I told my boss I wanted to be demoted to my previous position. I felt the weight on my back evaporate almost instantly. Now I'm looking at sitting in the same cube for the next 20 years. It is kind of depressing, but I don't define my life by my career anymore. I do what im required to do and then I go home. I'm Dada now.

I hit it in my 30's. Two paths out that I identified - saving quickly for early retirement or entrepreneurship. I chose #2 and pivoted my existing skills to a consulting-type role. Game changers.

Married 40 YO, mother of 2 young children. Was a Corporate Manager and the stress from managing people, clients and a house hold has made me realize quickly I do not want to climb this ladder nor stay on this step.

People realize that the game is not worth the candle.
Above all, giving your life to increase "in rank" in a certain sector or career, becoming someone you are not.

I strongly disagree with this sentiment.

But the difference might be that Ive been living it up in my 20,s , and been the broke Chad that "played in the band". At some point youll realize you will having NOTHING to show for; the pretty girls will leave eventually, and being broke and eating noodles gets old real fast...

Im glad I pivoted somewhat on time, and now I'm able to peovide as a father. Because boy oh boy..kids costs money...

I do wonder; what elee do these dudes want ? Chill all day? Find a Pina who does their dishes and folds their underwear? At 40 you gotta be mentally ready to work AT LEAST another 30 years. Times are tough, and while you are in your prime you should be scraping in every buck you can!

And do NOT quit your day job! Be grateful if your are employed these days!

There's something VERY important missing here.

This is what THEY have said. What do YOU say? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're directly descended from the author of Ecclesiastes.

i was just discussing this idea with someone. the point was if being rich equals being happy.

being rich equals easy to survive. got nothing to do with happy.

yet being happy is the number one goal.

we get that all confused often.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Any time you trade time for money and the only way to advance is to trade more time for more money, eventually you run out of time to trade, and eventually you end up at a point where no amount of money is worth that time.

They are doing it all wrong and don't understand this basic principal. Smart people trade less time for more money as they advance.

My thoughts are two fold:

How do you have so much time to care about this?
How does this help men become better with women?
