The rule I live by, which I have mentioned before and which is an extension of this principle, is that I don't allow myself to believe a single thing a girl says (or more importantly act accordingly, as if I believed it) no matter how plausible her excuse or other statement may actually be in that context. You shouldn't get hung up on what she says because all that matters at the end of the day is her willingness to walk the walk and work around whatever problem she claims to have, and if the excuse is legitimate, it is her loss for not being proactive; she gets enough of a rush riding Chad's **** to need the free ego boost of some poor sap actually following up umpteen times about the status of her "broken car" or whatever.
