Sydney has been ranked as the third-worst city in the world for making new friends

It's also not a great place if you're feeling frisky, according to Time Out's annual Index results

Combination of three things I reckon:

1. We're just a very insular, clique-y kind of people
2. The corporate 'rat race' culture here - everybody works too much to bother exploring social circles
3. For a global city, we have **** all to do

It's laughing that keeps you going isn't it?...Sydney is much like other Cities its size once your ability to walk across it in an hour goes so does its soul...You are a relative newcomer and so don't have a feeling of belonging nor a circle of Old acquaintances...Covid doesn't make socialising any easier either,most Folk are just hunkering down and just trying to survive...Cheer up though it would only take one fortunate meeting and your outlook might well change.

You forgot 4) Geography. Sydney has idyllic geography, meaning people can relax and unwind simply by being outside or going to the country/beach instead of needing friends to chill out with.
