Hey I'm goign to start swimming. Now, I will need your help in making a good beginner's swimming routine. Thanks. Easy on the stroke variations please . . .
That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?
She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."
She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.
I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.
Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.
Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.
Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.
Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.
The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.
Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.
Wow thanks so much. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I remember as a kid we kinda did stuff like this, but I like how you kept the strokes to freestyle because that's my best stroke. Worst would be back stroke because my right shoulder has to twist weird if I wanna make a good rotation. Anyhow, thanks again and I will put this into motion. That should take me a good 30 minutes or so.Originally posted by naoi deag se deag
Well, if you want to burn calories, swimming the whole time straight will do that. But that gets helluva boring. You should break it up something like this:
300 warmup
5x100 freestyle on an interval that gets your heart rate a little higher
4x50 any stroke hard
200 50 kick on your back 50 easy swimming
4x25 any stroke hard
200 warmdown
That's 1500m. I dunno how long that would take you but I think you get the idea. I assume you understand interval training if you swam around the age of 10? Let me know how this fits you.
Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.
You've been "getting ready" for two years.
She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.
Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
kewl thanx man... sh0t for the info and the linkOriginally posted by naoi deag se deag
Try this:
Put your arm over your head and try to reach the ceiling. Lift your arm from your shoulder complex and then drop it. Translate that to the pool - when you're reaching for the ceiling with your shoulder complex, you're going to be hyperextending your shoulder. When the catch phase of the stroke starts you'll be putting a lot of pressure on your shoulder in that spot. Concentrate on reaching "from your hips", that is, getting your arm as far out in front of you by swimming as much on your side as you can when you roll.
Damn this is hard to explain online. When I coached I took three weeks at the start of each season to teach my kids how to do this right. www.swim.ee is a good place to go - it has a lot of footage of the best doing their thing.
Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.
Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?
You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.
Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
