"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Met this HB 7 in gym, got talking flirting a bit.

Next time seen her she was with some dude there. Didn't let that fluster me, went over to talk when she was alone and got to the suggestion of training together sometime, went for the number close, she agreed, then gives me the bullsh*t line of 'i dont know my number..' i responded with 'huh? how do you not know your number??' then she gave me some crap about giving it to me next time.

i ended up leaving it with the line 'i guess you'll miss out then..' and i walk away.

been week and a bit and seen her today for first time, at first i just blanked and ignored her if i ever crossed the vicinity of where she was, not looking in her direction.

When she was closer to me i just said hey to her from a distance thats it and continued what i was doing.

She then comes over to me to chat and i think i made the mistake of being too flirty rather than acting uninterested and distant.

Was she just testing me to see if i was still interested?
cos the way i was acting prior to that was of someone who wasn't.

i kinda felt like maybe she was doing this more for herself out of guilt rather than anything else.

Long story short after about 2mins talk she was about to walk away so i just said see ya.

Suggestions what to do next?

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

The other guy was her bf maybe. And she wasn't interested in you. We can't win them all. It was nothing you did wrong probably.

fair play. where do you think the mistake was?

Well based off that vague description of the situation, I would say you didn't make a mistake, she just wasn't interested.

But if I had to take a better guess, I'd say you didn't create any sort of attraction with her before you went in for the # close. If you work on improving one aspect of your game, work on improving rapport with a girl. It will get you faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr!!

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
