I'm a serious guy and hardly ever smile and I know this is holding me back. But I have to make a conscious effort to smile and that makes me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable and it feels like my smile muscles just aren't that strong. Other people just seem to go through life with a permanent smile on their face and I am envious of that and want to learn how to do that.

Are there any exercises you can do to strengthen your smile? Or is it just a case of consciously forcing yourself to smile as much as possible until it becomes automatic?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

so when someone smiles at you...you don't smile back?
You just give them a serious stare?

Do what you must to get a smile on, it'll show that you have a fun personality and will attract people towards you.
After you shower or brush your teeth just smile to yourself in the mirror.
Some people I know force themselves to smile and it looks funny. Just see what looks good and natural.

Smiling is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. I had a GOOD friend that would never smile. He was the nicest person i met, used to drive one girl to work every day for free. He was always easy to talk to but every one would tell me that he looks like a killer. He was always serious and the only time he would smile is when you make a really really funny joke. Girls were scared of him until they got to know him.
