Turn a negative into a positive. Let this motivate you and channel your frustration/depression into new energy. Toughen yourself mentally and emotionally. As time passes you'll get over it. Hey, I could understand if you married her and had 2 kids and she ran off with your best friend or something (that is depressing) but just because she sees you as a friend you cannot take that personally. There are plenty of women that may want a romantic relationship with you, but you may see them as "friends." That is just a fact about relationships between men and women. Yes, she may be a good one, but there is little you can do if it is clear that her IL is not there and is unlikely to change anytime soon. Good luck and don't get "depressed" over women...that will KILL your DJ attitude and hurt the way you come across to new women out in the field.

Well, that wins my favorite line of the week award.
To the original poster:
You screwed it up. Despite what you state, you did not act as a DJ. You acted AFC to the core. You waited way too long, and she lost interest in you because you did not have the testicles to make a move on her. She's gone, and there's nothing you can do to change that. All you can do is learn from your mistakes, move on, and find someone else.
Here are some pointers for you:
1.) The game starts as soon as you see her. Let a girl know you're interested in her as soon as you meet her. Eyecontact, open ended questions about herself, smiling, number close and take off. Forget all that bullsh!t about women wanting to be friends first. That sh!t only happens on sitcoms (stop watching tv). Women want an assertive guy who knows what he wants, and she happens to be one of those things. If she's not interested, move on and don't waste another second on her. It's simple. No 5 month waiting bullsh!t.
2.) Don't be afraid to start kino. And when you start it, escalate it slowly (by slowly i mean escalate it slowly over the next 15-20 minutes, not 4-5 months).
3.) Despite how much they complain and spread hate about them, women want players. Don't be afraid of being labeled one. They want to tame one, and convert him into a one-woman man (with her being that one-woman). A player is a challange for her to overcome, it makes her life more exciting. What the f*ck does a nice guy do besides make a good doormat?

My advice is to work your way up from women who are just barely attractive enough to you for you to want them. Start by learning to make the moves on the easy ones.

And if you want to hear something more eye-opening is that they feed off of a mans power. She'll stand there and drink your blood as long as you let her. Those 5 months she knew you wanted her but she never told you she was just using you as a confidence booster. So s&it was on her terms. Next time play your own game man and turn all her attempts to take over against her. But read all the info on this site first. It tells you how to do it.

Pretty acurate. The ones that you think "WOW she's so different, fantastic", are usually fvcked up.
There're exceptions but usually most of them are crazy!!!
