"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

In the game of black and white, white can't win.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I don't think the problem is people having a sense of humor around here, i just think that if some new guy comes around asking for advice, we should try and help him... kindly no less.

The reason 99% of the people on this site came here was to learn what they were doing wrong, and having "respected" (high post counts look like respect to newbies) posters slandering them when they come is against what most people come here for. What would you all do if Pook called you a pvssy and put you down after your first post here? To them, that's what it seems like is happening.

I've actually noticed things getting better as far as this goes, but maybe it's just the posts i've been reading. Anyways, it's not wrong to have a little fun here, but try not to at the expense of others who just want to learn what's going on. Most of you, after all, were once in their shoes.

Okay, I've been a forum-owner for a while and I know a few things about how to run a forum.

If you want to get rid of "useless posts", the solution is quite simple. Delete every single post that is to be considered irrelevant for this forum. In case a misunderstanding might come to be between the poster and the moderator, send him a short message explaining why you deleted his post with a warning. This is pretty easy to do and keeps everything an awful hell of a lot cleaner.

Another thing I do have to comment about is the version of vBulletin you guys are using. It's probably one of the oldest I have seen in quite a while. If you don't intend to spend any money on the software, then I suggest you try taking a look at other software such as SMF.

I know that the earlier stated approach may sound like more work, but I have seen other boards that grew beyond their moderating capacity and the nonsense posting went crazy overnight. They decided to go at it like we did, and in a week they had everything under control again, making the process a whole lot smoother and less demanding on the moderators.

I totally agree with this. In my opinion I think it's time that we get some new moderators...they've gone corrupt and abused there power. I actually would like to Pook to be a moderator. I think we shouldn't fear moderators because they'll delete our posts and all that but acutally be able to trust our own moderators.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.
