Hey guys.

I'm interested in getting into the promotional industry. I want to be an Event Promoter, and promote events such as nightclubs, concerts, fashion shows, or basically ANY social gathering.

The only thing is that I don't know how to get started.

Do you guys have any advice for me? How do I get my foot in the door? What does the job take?

ANY information will be helpful. Thanks. =)

whatch what you wish for.

we got a lot of promoters downtowon, because of all the bars and clubs..... it's a sh*ty job. They basicly have to run up to people and convince them to go to a certin club....

The only thing this job is good for is for getting over rejections (lot of times brutal rejections).....

You're talking about a street promoter.

The ACTUAL promoter hires street promoters to run around and give out fliers and stuff... it's just another way for the promoter to promote their event.

I'm talking about an ACTUAL event promoter... which means I'd have my own event at a club... you know, which means throwing wet t-shirt contests, finding the top DJ's to play, etc...

We have a small promotions company, we basically throw our own events. You call up the clubs you are interested in and ask them about throwing a party or what have you. Ask them how they go about the business, is there a flat rental fee, or do they take a cut of the door? Figure out what kind of event you want to do, parties are the easiest. Come up with a good party, get a good DJ (should run you $150-400 depending on where you live and who you get). Then promote like a b!tch. Flyers, posters, emails, myspace, ect. for atleast 2 weeks minimum.

Then hope the people come. It can be totally hit or miss. But when it is a hit it is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
