I made a thread in the other room about cutting my frenulum last week. I gave it a week to heal, hasn't healed. Just come back from the doctors and he thinks it's herpes.

F*ck.

I tried so hard to make it this far STD free. He's given me Acyclovir (Zovirax) and said if it starts getting better in a couple of days its da herp. If not, I have some antibacterial cream stuff that will heal a bacterial infection if it's that (hope its that!).

It's not from the girl I've been seeing, it's from some hoe I banged in September and again in February. I got a little itch/redness after banging her but it went away so I thought I was safe, then this (I presume) is my first break out. The funny thing is this girl keeps messaging me randomly at 2am to meet up, she works in a hospital so I've no doubt if it is her, she knows she has it and is purposely or carelessly barebacking people with it (I'm sure that's a crime).

I'm jumping the gun here as it could just be an infection, but I feel it in my bones that I'm doomed. I'm hoping this doesn't get better in the next 2-3 days and I can switch to the other stuff.

I made this thread a couple of years ago and cut off a great girl because she had herp - I thought I dodged a bullet.

I also had another thread about my australian tenant who came back from Aus telling me she had herp and tried to blame me (not me, I was clean). I thought I dodged the bullet there too.

Now I think my wh0remongering has finally caught up with me.

I thought I would feel more sad than I do right now, but everything else in my life is going so great that I don't really care.

Anyway, pray for me that this is just an infection and not HSV2!

Why not get the blood test and see if you have it? Will show hsv1 and hsv2 if you have them...

The antibody test is about as accurate as a coin flip. He needs to have an active sore swabbed and cultured in a lab. That is the only accurate test.

Hsv2 has evolved to live on skin away from the genitals, so a lot of people dont realize they have it. If you swap nudes and see what looks like zits on her ass or crotch, that's probably herpes.

I'll of course let both women know once I'm certain I have it. Then scuttle away into a cave and live alone like the beast I am.

Yes once I've tamed this inflammation I'll start seeking some proper diagnosis. The doctor didn't seem so sure himself hence giving me both prescriptions, I secretly just wanted some antibiotic pills and to forget about the whole thing.

Are you the guy who made the 'pregnancy scare' thread too?

Dang. Sorry about your recent bad luck bro.
Yeah, I leave the forum when life is good, when I'm active here it means **** is going south. At least I'm not gonna be a dad!

If you have it, it'll just take a bit of time to manage dating with it. I have it and I still managed to successfully date with it. I always disclosed and have NEVER been rejected because of it. I've been banging the same girl for the last five years and she's never caught it. It's pretty easy to manage and it's certainly not the end of the world.

Herpes is more common than you think. You ever seen ppl with cold sores? That's herpes right there.

Don't beat yourself up or get ahead of yourself for it. You just now have to be very mindful and proactive from now on (and especially if you do have it). You don't want to be selfish and careless and start spreading it. One of us might be next.

A large portion of the general population has HSV 1 and/or 2; greater than 50%.

I'll guarantee if you've had any sort of a sex life, you've already been with people who are HSV +. Almost 90% never show symptoms, though they can still spread it via "shedding." It is most contagious when someone has an open sore(s) which can be hard to detect. A simple blood test will tell you if you have HSV and which one so not sure about all the mystery on whether you have it or not. L-lysine has also been shown to reduce symptoms, outbreaks, and shedding though nothing is 100%.

Not the end of the world unless you think a skin condition is--which herpes is. A skin condition. Stigma is 1000x worse than the affliction. 1000 things I can think of that are worse than someone or a partner with the H.

Good luck.

Does the infected area have raised water filled lesions? Do you have any other pains in you back, spine, hip areas? If there are lesions, did they swab?

That's reassuring to hear, especially from you! The biggest things I've been thinking about is;

- Now I have to tell every girl I speak to I have it
- I'll never have bareback sex again
- How do I tell the girl I'm seeing I have it (I planned a long time ago to cut her off so is there any point?)
- Do I confide in anyone about this (I'm heavily siding against no, nobody (friends/family) can ever know.

How old were you when you contracted it?

And now you might be doing the same with the one you are seeing now, that you said you were sure it didn't come from. Now it will come from her if you gave it to her.
I have not had sex or seen anyone since this started last week, and I don't plan to either! I'm not going to go spreading it I'm a grown man with morals and a conscience.

I think it has a red bump but doesn't look water-filled or like pus or any of the pictures, I don't pain anywhere else. There were no swabs he just inspected it, it was a GP so not a specialist, I booked an emergency appointment, and when he starting googling in front of me and showing me herpes pics it didn't fill me with confidence in his abilities as a doctor. He seemed to think it looked like herpes, it was just red and swollen to me.

I've been taking the antivirals for over 2 days and nothing has changed, still sore/painful, if symptoms persist on the weekend I'll use the antibac cream, if that cures it I'm in the clear for now I guess. I do need to get a proper blood test done asap.

"Herpes blood tests have a sensitivity level of about 80-98%. This type of test detects antibodies to the herpes virus, so it may not be as accurate when performed soon after infection." - maybe too soon for a blood test? think I contract it in February but potentially years ago *shrug*

Thanks for all the responses, bit of a shock to the system but done lot's of research and yes, it's very common, most people don't realise they have it, I always wanted to stay "clean" but I guess I needed this to ground me otherwise my ego may have been my downfall at some point in time hah!

A red bump w/o fluid isn't HSV or HSV-2. It could be a rash, ingrown hair follicle, HPV, Molluscum contagiosum and several other issues. A blood test would be inconclusive or negative until the virus is in your body for around 6 months. What you need is a swap of the area infected and inside your urethra. Then have it sent out to be cultured. Ideally, you'd like to book an emergency apt with an infectious disease doctor to get this sorted out.

I wouldn't say anything yet, as you do not know what you have. Abstain from sex until you have an answer. Where is the lesion located? If you'd rather PM me this info, feel free.

I've booked a swab test for Monday afternoon (they were fully booked this weekend) so we can find out once and for all.

It's located on my frenulum (banjo string), it was enflamed and sore last Wednesday when I woke up (I've cut it during sex with an ex a few years ago and was similar pain, but worse).

I'm hoping it's nothing but mentally prepared for the worst.

Will keep you posted.

- Now I have to tell every girl I speak to I have it
You don't tell them immediately, you tell them on the 4th date when she's thoroughly invested. You can't really have any one night stands (unless some girl just jumps on your c0ck without any dating history). I told them every single time on the 4th date, and I got laid every single time the same night.
- I'll never have bareback sex again
Yes you will. As long as you're not having an outbreak, it's extremely unlikely that you'll give it to her. And if you've already told her you have it, she's already aware that there's a risk, and sleeping with you is the risk that she's willing to take.
- How do I tell the girl I'm seeing I have it (I planned a long time ago to cut her off so is there any point?)
If you're planning on dumping her, then just do it. Once you realize you don't belong with someone, you shouldn't waste any more time with them. Text her right now and tell her it's over.
- Do I confide in anyone about this
Do it online. There's communities and groups out there you can confide in. Don't do it with someone IRL unless you know they have it as well.
How old were you when you contracted it?

You wanna hear something funny? I told my GF that I have HSV-2 and she decided she should go get tested herself. Turns out she has HSV-1 and didn't even know it.

You know, there's a chance you can give her HSV-2 and she can give you HSV-1 or gHSV-1.

Well I went for the swab last Monday, but there wasn't anything to swab! The damn antivirals had cleared it up, confirming what I already knew. I guess I just wait for another outbreak and hit the GUM clinic ASAP?

Dear lord that was painful, I haven't worked out for over 2 weeks, I stopped my normal routines, I just worked and tried to forget. Although nothing has been confirmed still.

Thank for the reply, I agree with not sharing this with anyone, I'm normally the oversharing type (even online), so keeping a secret is something I'm looking forward to. I actually bet I know lots of people with HSV - considering 3 girls I've encountered have it, all in their 20s, it must be the silent elephant in the bedroom. What's worrying is all these girls were barebacking and I know they are not telling partners.

The girl I suspect gave it to me randomly gave me the "hey you" text just now, so I remembered to log on to SS and update here.

I read that poor diet/alcohol/drugs/stress are all causes of outbreaks - maybe this is what I needed to live on water and protein like I always wanted haha.

Ok so more bad news, regardless of what caused this, my frenulum (banjo string) and foreskin, has healed tighter. I read it's common, it will get cut, or snap, or get damaged, scar tissue healing it tighter, then the cycle repeat.

I've been taking long baths each day and stretching my penis, I've googled some operation thats common where they lengthen the frenulum, it's under local anaesthetic, no hospital needed, heals within a week. I'm thinking if I get that it might spark an outbreak, wrecking my **** again, maybe I'm trapped in a penis wrecking cycle, maybe this is the real bad news over everything else. To be fair, it's healed and loosened over the past 2 weeks, it's still not the same old penis I've always known though.

I guess that's a completely different thread altogether because a little research revealed many uncircumcised men suffer from tight foreskin (I don't really have this) or tight frenulum (or both). So many common problems we deal with in silence. At least I'm otherwise healthy and relatively happy, I guess.

Sex always comes with a risk. Make sure you tell them they can get pregnant by having sex with you as well. This one chick my friend slept with gave him the clap and he gave her herpes. If people don't know by now to have safe sex, whatever they catch is their problem.
