So, over the past few weeks one of my "friends" somehow found out about one of my plates and proceeded to tell another friend about it. Before this year I hadn't really talked to girls as much as I do now, so they don't believe I can get girls (which is funny because I can already spot their mistakes with their plates). On top of that, I don't talk to her in that class for various reasons - top reason being I really don't get a chance to move closer to her because of the instructor - so they're always trying to get me to talk to her just to prove to them that I can.

Then, it spread a little more to other people in the class until the snowball reached its climax: one of the plate's "friends" was listening in, asked one of the guys who we were talking about, and then went over to talk to the plate about it.

I was going to ask the plate what her friend asked her, and probably inevitably try to save face. I didn't get the chance to, so I thought I'd ask SS what is the right move here?

I know I shouldn't care but it irritates me when private matters go public.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Just continue to act outcome independent. Don't let it get to you and if it does do NOT show it.
