Actually, a lot of the stuff suggested on this forum doesn't really work so hot with LTRs. They are a different monster entirely from dating or short flings. In a LTR if you make certain that you respect yourself at least as much as your respect your girlfriend, for the most part, you'll be okay.

It's been a long time since I've really liked someone this much. Actually, I think it's a lot more than that but I'm holding back". Now, I think that any reasonable person would take this to mean that she wanted to tell me that she loved me. I didn't feel that I could justify saying that yet though so I didn't pull out the L word. It did cause me to let my guard down and feel that I loved her too though. Then, the attachment really started. A month later she dumped me. So, beware when the girl says she loves you early on.

Infatuation will usually come and go in a relationship...and you can actually do things to create it even long after you've grown to have a mature love. It all comes down to being able to get the other person to feel good about themselves when they are with you. People lose the feeling of infatuation because they get lazy, basically. Early in a relationship you make more effort to elicit those feelings in each other. If you don't make the effort to keep that alive it will pass. Now, no one can really keep that going consistently all the time...but you can put that effort in enough to not forget how enjoyable it is.
