What the hell do you think you accomplish by not beating your meat puppet? As if you're going to store up some sexual energy to propel out to women by not spanking the monkey?

Women and men masturbate. It doesn't make any difference.

Give it a try before you bash it, I also view it as an exercise in self control. Its hard not to beat if for more than a week

Yeah. Kinda sounds like desperate guys looking for a magic pill.

I really doubt most of society has to go through such measures.

Yeah I say that all the time whenever this topic gets brought up.

It's a pointless exercise IMO, and may even make the guy more sexually frustrated.

We have to drain the pipe every now and again, nothing wrong with it.

Some people think if they stop beating off it will improve their game, like they'll have the testosterone and sexual energy of a thousand men, thus giving them the confidence they need to approach women.

Nothing bothers me more than people discounting a method that works for people when they won't even try it themselves. There are dozens of guys here talking how how they feel it helps them. What grounds are you going on to say that it's ridiculous? Because you don't want to test it out? It won't kill you. Try it. If you disagree after experimenting, fine... don't do it anymore.

I was skeptical like everyone else was. But there is something to it. It's nothing drastic (at least not for me), but I have more energy and I don't shy away from things as much. They seem to happen a bit more naturally.

Every time I get really serious with this "no fap" seems to lead to me getting a fresh batch of new plates. Maybe it's coincidence, but this is the 3rd time (out of 3) where that was the case. And this is coming from a guy who NEVER had "plates". It was one girl or no girl. Now I have had multiple plates multiple times within a year.

It's a mindset man. I'm a creative, and I always seem to have the best ideas if I do not beat my meat.

Also masturbating de-sensitizes you for actual sex if you do it too much. The feeling wont be the same as your hand... So it makes sex that much worse for you if you do it too much.

I do it because I'm afraid that if I continue to masturbate and watch porn it will reinforce the social anxiety I suffer from and it will make me addicted to rely on porn and masturbation and not have actual sex with a female. It doesn't help that I haven't had sex either.

So I'm trying to reframe from porn and masturbation and rely soley on an actual female to give me my orgasm rather than my hand. And I refuse to accept I'm an addict to something. That upsets me to the fullest when I find out I'm addicted and can't get off.

I do agree that moderation is the easy way out and I want to try that because I refuse to have a dry spell and leave my
John with no purpose.

But the research is worth reading. Some stuff is hilarious and cannot be proven. But when I masturbate to porn and orgasm and the next day I go out to the social world. I still have the anxiety but I still have the desire to fvck all the girls I see that are attractive.

So some stuff is true and some stuff is laughable.
To each is own. I did at one point take that no fap challenge serious but I've given up on the counting and the posting in that thread.

Moderation is the key.

That's because your body sends your T levels soaring after 7 days with no ejaculation as a way of trying to convince you to do something about it. Don't listen and the body will shrug its shoulders and send T levels plummeting since it figures you don't need it...

No ejaculation for prolonged periods...brilliant way to lower T and raise estrogen levels

This current study examined the effect of a 3-week period of sexual abstinence on the neuroendocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm. Hormonal and cardiovascular parameters were examined in ten healthy adult men during sexual arousal and masturbation-induced orgasm. Blood was drawn continuously and cardiovascular parameters were constantly monitored. This procedure was conducted for each participant twice, both before and after a 3-week period of sexual abstinence. Plasma was subsequently analysed for concentrations of adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol, prolactin, luteinizing hormone and testosterone concentrations. Orgasm increased blood pressure, heart rate, plasma catecholamines and prolactin. These effects were observed both before and after sexual abstinence. In contrast, although plasma testosterone was unaltered by orgasm, higher testosterone concentrations were observed following the period of abstinence. These data demonstrate that acute abstinence does not change the neuroendocrine response to orgasm but does produce elevated levels of testosterone in males.

I was watching a documentary about mike tyson and in it he talks about part of his training was no fap or sex. So he didn't have sex for 2 years I think.. that's why he raped women afterwards, he thought they wanted his d1ck and was just playing hard to get. lol (ok I made that last bit up)

Swallowman, take a No Breathing challenge next and let us know when you've won. For extra incentive use a pair of Zyzz worn jock straps to asphyxiate yourself to permanent sleep with.

Higher testosterone itself doesn't mean anything. Like "being more creative" or "feeling better" or not "shying away from stuff" ...
Can you copy and paste an article that shows the correlation you are actually referring to?

Ever heard of Magritte? It's actually fun:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Treachery_of_Images

Whatever you are feeling is probably the placebo effect. I recently stopped drinking diet coke and it made me feel good. Because I proved to myself that I can change my behavior.

Whatever you are doing is technically called "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" aka CBT.
Here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy

It is indeed one of the most effective therapy methods and well-respected in psychiatry.

You can exercise self-control as much as you want; it's probably good for you -- just don't pretend that you become scientific and rational when you c/p lines from papers you don't understand.
