This is pretty amazing...
Scientists have discovered a new use for Crustacean shells(chitin) and that is to combine them with zinc to form powerful batteries that are still 99.7% efficient after over 400 hours of use and can be recharged over 1000 times.
Chitin is currently a waste product thrown out by seafood restaurants daily with no real use.
Even better? They quickly decompose within 5 months in a landfill leaving behind only zinc which can be recycled.
Believe they can be produced very cheaply at scale and will replace Lithium-ion batteries in the very near future, saving the much rarer Lithium for other uses.
Massive technological breakthrough, IMO.

Scientists discover lithium replacement that may revolutionize EV batteries: '99.7% efficient after over 400 hours of use'
Even better? They biodegrade in five months.
