In your case, this means being just as skeptical of the YouTube videos you watch as you are of this peer-reviewed study, instead of accepting one simply because you agree with it. Eventually, you have to examine things for yourself so you can come to your own conclusion.

Even ignorance has it perks, this is true... Slaves who gained a high degree of literacy in The US became far LESS satisfied than they were when unlettered, and men who discover that the world is far larger and more diverse than their neighborhood and village cease being content once they're aware of said fact

I don't care what the research says; I think it's BS. In my real-life observations, when I go to a dance venue with my gf, all the single women who are sitting with other women or by themselves look depressed. ( And sometimes even the women sitting with a partner)
They can say whatever they want and whatever sounds good in the research, but when no one is looking, you can see the real answer.
I think a very, very small percentage of single women are not necessarily happy, but content with being by themselves after checking out of the dating market.

If you want to be single, and are single then you are going to be happier. Not sure why this is a surprise.

I have a number of female friends who are married... at some level all of them are not happy for different reasons. In contrast, I have a number of female friends who are single and they seem to be fine. Women do a lot better at being able to meet their emotional needs with friends and pets than men.

Relationships are hard to maintain. Anyone that removes difficulty from their lives will be happier.

This is basically the philosophy of a lazy hedonist, which most women are, but which also fundamentally isn't a happier existence than one with any sort of meaning.

So basically the study confirms "women dont need no man"? good i guess.. Have fun ladies.. Now if they can stop complaining about not being able to find a "good man" or being invisible when they are older.

Life gives people many tests. This seems to be one of them directed at women. You know the same type of test that told women "never settle, your king is just arround the corner". Or that waiting to have kids in your 40's isnt too bad. You'll be fine.

This is one seems to say, women you arent feeling depressed (oh women are the most medicated group in the world), you feel happy. Now to think of it, are those the meds doing all the talking? taking the surveys? Whatever...
