Her parents can't find out about me so I can't call her home phone. She wants to talk over MSN but I am highly against in except for rare occasions in relationships. Her friend has a cell phone and they are together some. I don't want her to lose interest by not contacting her, but I don't like using MSN. Should I just call her friend every once in a while and see if she is with her?

And if you really wanted to talk to her you would just talk to her on MSN. It's better than nothing. Plus, then you could IM her and have her call you, so you wouldn't be calling her home phone.
