Need advice on contacting a girl you've begun seeing

Hi, I'm fairly new to the site, have read a little but this is the first time I've posted.

I been talking to this one girl I'm into for a little bit now (less than a month). Last week she went away for a course and won't be back for another month or so. I know we're gonna talk while she's gone but should I contact her first or only contact her after she's tried to contact me. I'm not attached to this chick or anything, I'd just rather not give her the impression that I'm needy (which I'm not) and scare her away (which would be a shame since she's a cool girl with her **** together). Thanks.

Just send her a casual text/e-mail saying "Hey, hope everything is going well in [enter location here].

If you structure it that way, it doesn't appear needy, because it doesn't require a response. This is also good, because if she is interested, she will likely go out of her way to contact you back and let you know what is going on.

well I know she's interested, and she's already told me she'll contact me (probably by email since she doesn't have a phone there and can only get access to a computer once in a while). I just didn't know whether I should contact her before that.
