tans just look healthy and are attractive. even then, it's cultural. in places like India, it's completely the opposite and DARK/BLACK is unnattractive and less socially rewarded.

Being tan does look healthier, but there is way too much emphasis on it IMO...some people do it so much that they turn orange...sad.

I have naturally darker skin than most people and even though I'm a regular white guy many people think I'm hispanic, and thus I get all the hispanic chicks. Its pretty sweet.

I guess I can't relate to the problem of having to go tanning since I am naturally darker, but for some reason I don't think looking like you spent your whole summer on the beach is very attractive. You can tell when a tan is fake, especially during winter time, and I think that's kind of lame.

tanning is for idiots. I guess people just don't watch the news or they would have known the links between tanning and skin scancer. Sky high skin cancer rates and people just go and tan themselves being the trend following robots that they are! not only that but we have all this airhead women using those sunless tanners which make them look so fake they look awful!

Our skin gets darker as we age as a result of skin being damaged over time. Yet people go and do damage to their skin by tanning, damage that should happen over a lifetime.

Tanning is stupid and a waste of time. For one thing it doesn't last. Eventually you will go back to your natural color. If a girl isn't attracted to you when you are lighter a tan won't make much of a difference. Stay away from tanning beds for sure unless you want to look like a carrot.

Tanning has recently been proven to be an addiction. These people are seriously becoming like drug addicts and it is extremely unhealthy.

Dude, what really matters is how you come off. Not your skin color. If you're really worried about the tone of your skin, just cut up and bulk up like noone's business and it won't even be an issue.

Sure, go ahead and bronze up a bit...that is, as long as it makes you feel better. But make sure you are doing it for you. The whole premise of confidence is that you do things FOR YOU. Not because you care what other people think. Make sure you are coming from a place where this is something for YOU, not for THEM.
Personally, I wouldn't do it, because of skin cancer risk.
