"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I was listening to a Tina Turner song (I know what you're thinking) and the lyric "what's love but a secondhand emotion" got me thinking.

This is absolutely correct. People make such a big deal about women and love and people actually kill themselves because of breakups but really chances are you will go through life being "in love" with more than 1 person. Probably 2, 3 or 10 people. I'm 19 and i'm already on my third "proper" girlfriend. My stepdad told me about his relationship experiences before he met my Mother and how much heartbreak there was and although things often seemed bleak there were always other women in his life after.

So when you split up with your girlfriend and you're feeling all depressed stop and think. You probably felt like that about another woman before, and you sure as hell will again. And probably again after that. It takes time to find someone worthwhile and you may not until you're in your 40s or 50s. Plus, how do you know what you really want in a woman if you've only had one?

Anyone with plenty of experience will already know this and i'd love to read about your experiences. May also help young uns feeling like their world is falling apart because their first ever girlfriend dumped them.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

The higher the highs, the lower the lows. But we still want to get high again.
