It applies to anyone. There is no way to avoid losing muscle while cutting calories, unless you are taking steroids, but you can minimize it.

-1g protein per pound of bodyweight daily

-lift relatively heavy in terms of weight. Lower reps, more weight

-walking ONLY for cardio activities

-prioritize 8 hours of sleep per night

-fasting for 24 hours 1-2x per week is muscle sparing due to influx of GH released(up to 700% normal) and will burn almost pure fat.

It's funny but I have been doing OMAD diet for around 4 weeks now.

Needed to shed some belly fat and have lost quite abit of excess weight around the belly.

In regards to muscle loss, I don't seem to has lost much. Have been eating one high protein meal a day, and maybe one little snack.

Been lifting consistently throughout, heavier weights.

Also cardio wise, no intense running, just walk in the treadmill.

I may need to slightly increase my calories now, as I want to gain some more muscle mass considering I have lost the belly.

However my concern is, the belly will come back soon as I up the calories.

I don't think I can sustain one meal a day long term, the heavier I lift, the more my body is starving for calories.

I think I need to be realistic, at age 47 it's highly unlikely I can sustain a flat stomach at all times lol
