Found this site that has standards of how much a regular guy at some training level should lift.
Where do you guys rank? It seems to me that the deadlift standard may be a bit off, as im "untrained" or "novice" as expected in other disciplines, but nearly intermediate there.

35 pounds over Intermediate on the deadlift.
20 pounds over intermediate on the press.
Intermediate on the bench press, but I don't bench press anymore.
20 pounds over intermediate on the squat, I assume this is a back squat?

Solid, for the lack of regularity in my training.

Perhaps you have a strong deadlift.

26 pounds over deadlift intermediate. Soon to be around 48 pounds over that :>

Edit: 181-pound class.

Wow, I've been lifting seriously for about 3 years and I've been pretty much insulated in my own little world...haven't compared myself to others, nor have I cared...I took time to check this out and was pleased to find I'm in the area betwee intermediate and advanced. The advanced numbers are my goal...compelling me to want to join in here with a journal of my own ;)

I have seen that chart before. It isn't accurate. My deadlift, according to that chart, is nearly advanced and I have been training for just over a year.

There is an elitefts one I saw on Ironaddicts that was accurate, although it was perhaps a little extreme. Because those guys are all elite they think that anyone can bench 500+ given time. Somewhere inbetween the elitefts one and the Exrx one is probably accurate for the average gym goer.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

1 pound under intermediate for bench press
18 pounds over novice for squat
3 pounds under intermediate for deadlift

Seems pretty bogus since I fit the description of a person who is "untrained".

Do you have a link the the iron addicts one?

This seems pretty accurate to me. My stats:

Bench - intermediate
Deadlift - 10 lbs over intermediate
Squat - 50 lbs over intermediate (seems a little off)

I've been training for years and consider myself an intermediate on numbers, so these numbers seem accurate.

Is that chart based on 1-rep max weight or something like that?

Edit:

The have a one rep max calculator http://exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html

I'm below un-trained in everything yet I've been working out since Jan, does that make any sense?
yes, its 1 RM based. but remember that this is based on FULL ROM

Press - Intermediate
Bench - Intermediate
Squat (parallel) - Elite
Squat (full) - Advanced
Deadlift - Intermediate
Clean - Intermediate

- squat: ~330+ so around 10 lbs below advanced.

Before I ****ed up my back, all my lifts except for the Clean were between intermediate and advanced. Hoping to get back there in 6 months or so :D

Exactly. Only way to do them is ass-to-grass.

Unless I've been doing it wrong. :nervous:

mark rippetoe says if you are truly doing ass to grass for real, you are splitting your knees apart :)

it was one of his posts. everyone talks about squatting high, lol.
basically he says not many can truly go ass to grass unless you are you have amazing flexibility (which we don't).
plus that low, chances are your hamstrings loosen, killing hip drave.

Yep, they're proper squats.
You shouldn't squat lower than ass to grass, a2g is the way the human body is built.
Any higher and you use your knees are brakes, so all the tension goes to your knees that can't really handle it, while going all the way puts it on the hips, which is cool.

squat controversy again ???

There are 4 different squats. Each squat is a bit different than the others.

Olympic High bar squat = ATG barbell back squat

Powerlifting Squat = Parallel, which actually means hips dip below knees, and your stand is WIDER. it is anatomically impossible to go ATG on a powerlifting squat if your doing them correctly.

parallel squatting is NOT bad for your knees if you have a wide stance and your feet are turned outwards, using your hamstrings as a brake and you have the bar across your upper back not on your traps. All efforts should be made to learn how to squat deep. Despite what anyone says I'm convinced that EVERYONE can squat deep if they just practiced.

Parallel squats have there purpose, developing Glutes, Hips and Hamstrings.

All other deep squats utilize quads and hips alot more effectively.

by the way, why is the word outwards, censored ?

and for the record Mark Rippetoe has nothing against deep squatting, he talks about it briefly in one of his crossfit videos about bench pressing.

i would call those lifters squatting low, but not a2g. and he didn't write it in SS, he wrote it in a post. do your knees stop sliding forward 1/3 way down? you'll know what i mean if you read SS.

drumbass actually knows what he's talking about lol. parallel isn't parallel, it's hips lower than knee.
olympic style is high on traps and i think toes forward in a close stance.

i also agree with everyone can squat deep. for some, they just say that because it's not a priority for them, which is completely fine.

i cannot think about a situation of how a deep squat uses the quads more effectively. quads are used but certainly to a much lesser extent than the posterior chain
