"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

One of my new year's resolutions is to get life insurance this year. Part of the testing is a measurement of your BMI.

I'm currently 180 pounds at 5'9 and about 11% body fat. However, that puts me in the overweight category. So much for the benefits of lifting and good health!

To get my BMI in the normal range, I need to drop about 12 pounds. I can easily do this in about 2 months by not eating and working out less, but I'll feel and look like crap.

Is it worth destroying my gains to get a lower premium? Has anyone else here dealt with this idiotic problem?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

you may be worrying for no reason. life insurance testing depends on your age and the amount of insurance you are purchasing. being 33 you may only have to do a telephone interview.

However if you are tested for BMI, your premiums are not adjusted so dramatically that you should be concerning yourself with this.

Can you not prove to them somehow that you are in great shape?

Show them a six pack, how can they say you are overweight then?

HAHA! That would be great! I'll show the tester that I can bench 235 and then run a mile under 6.

insurers are all different... if you have trouble with one go to another. you'll find someone who wants to play ball.

check into whether your employer offers group term life insurance -- often much cheaper & fewer restrictions/hassles (depending on your occupation, of course. motocross stunt jumpers need not apply, of course)

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I got married @ 33, and my wife and I signed up for life insurance right away since she was pregnant (yeah yeah, whatever) -

A lot of it has to do with the insurer, your age, the size of the policy, etc. The first company we tried had me piss into a cup and they also did a swab of my mouth to do an HIV test. We didn't choose them...the 2nd company also
made me piss into a cup, but they drew blood and did all kinds of tests (inc HIV, that's a popular life insurance test) -
