Let her down easy: Prom

So this girl has been liking me asks me to prom. She does it in a way that I can't really say no. She says, "When we go to prom should be go to yours or mine" I'm standing there like So I kinda gave her the power. Well I got the power back and called her and was like "we need to talk". I told her I didn't plan on going and gave her a bs reason like "I didn't save up for prom." She was disappointed and gave a lil "you suck" response but nothing serious. She said she would call me tomorrow. The boy got game Do you guys think I didn't come off soft but not as an A-hole either?

I don't know what your reason was but you should have told her the truth i guess unless she is a drama queen or something that should be the best way.
