I was watching this video and it got me thinking:
The narrator of the video makes the point that the reason some men are addicted to p0rn is because our sex drive has evolved such that a man who has the opportunity to take a fertile wife (or mate with a fertile woman, etc.) acts on it, and has been set a certain level such that there would be enough sex being pursued to carry on the species. I would say that similarly, women's desire for a good mate - that would be presumed to have been guided by a woman's mother in the choice of what man would be arranged for her - has evolved to be barely picky enough so that in that earlier time, there would be enough acceptance of "good enough" (and here the determination made before she would be become an old maid at age 17, LOL) to carry on the species. During that time, I could see a young woman being picky (i.e.., fighting her parents' wishes for her arranged marriage) just barely long enough for her to become difficult to get marriage interest, at which time her maiden aunt would tell her to not wind up like herself.. Similar to the incredible availability of p0rn for the horndog male, there is such an availability of suitors (that seem to be interested in marriage) for a young woman, that her internal instinct is to be flighty until such time that there seems to be less interest (i.e., hitting the wall); and instead of a maiden aunt to life-coach her, there is the "sassy" culture that tells women that they can freeze their eggs and easily pick up a husband like he's a box of tampons at the market.
