Hey all, I'm new here, and new to strength training. I was curious if it was possible/sensible to lose weight while gaining strength? Thanks for any help.

if you diet correctly, you'll lose fat as you gain mass/muscle . But you've got to be strict with your diet, try not to cheat, although cheating ONCE a week is exceptable by some. I personally diet 7 days a week, and only cheat if im out on a date or something.

I've been losing weight while ALL my strength numbers have been climbing for 5 months now. Lift heavy, do cardio, high protein to conserve muscle, and don't drop calories too much.

Yes it's possible. Strength training will build muscle, while promoting fat loss. Add to this a good diet & you'll have solid results.

Check this Beginner Strength Training Program if you're new to the sport.
