The most important thing is self respect..when you sense people not respecting you, they've probably sensed that YOU don't respect yourself. Thus it becomes a downward spiral. And eventually it will show through you literally not respecting yourself by not chasing excellence.
You gotta stop GAF about what "they " think of you bro..by the way, what's your definition of respect or being respected? Again, if you respect yourself it will show in every thing you do. E.g i will respect a well dressed man over a dusty old fart sweat smelling dude.
Respect is always earned and never given...

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
