What should the boyfriend do here?

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."
You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.
She's been waiting forty minutes.
Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.
She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.
Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.
So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.
The words come later. The impression comes first.
Thats probaly what I would do. Just leave her standing there.HalfAddict said:Go find another chick.
She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.
You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.
She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.
The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.
Uh did you watch the video, dude WAS IN A SUPERMARKET. Women are abundant, with near a thousand posts I figure you would be able to recognize this.Strelok said:yeah sure go find an other chick as if you were at the supermarket and your pizza brand is over so u pick an other one.

But in all seriousness, if that chick was his girlfriend when dude walks up, interrupts conversation and asks to introduce himself just laugh at him like he's a joke. I would have leaned into her ear and said he wants to introduce himself to you but I am not going to let him, maybe rest my hand on her waist and I box out the other guy by showing him my back. Then just act like he is not there.
After this any action he makes just puts him in a weaker position because he is either yelling around you or interrupting again, meaning he looks desperate and rude. If you are as close as you should be at this point to your girl she will most likely be put off as well.
She should be following your lead so if you deny this dude she probably will too.
But that is just my opinion.
Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.
Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?
You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.
Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
A man who's clearly spent time in the trenches of social interactions.synergy1 said:Never had this happen, but if something like this was brewing, i'd pray that my energy level is high. The key is to sort of take over the conversation, and get them talking to you instead. If it becomes obvious to the women that the dude is only there to talk to them, that actually hurts their chances. Likewise when I approach groups, I go strait to the MM and talk to everyone I am not interested in. Sometimes indifference, but with the right charisma, you can get them buying your drinks and even trying to help you get w/ the target.
If the aforementioned situation happened to me, and I wasn't making on the women, than I would attempt to bring the energy level of the conversation to my level. The dude getting blown out here is orbiting his chick and has zero desire to socialize. Many times I have been the guy who approaches and (without even knowing it), steals the interest of the chick that is the target of another dude who is simply orbiting. Thus the best advice to glean from this experience is: Do not orbit, have a high energy level, and engage strangers to show you are social.
