What's a good response?
Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.
You've been "getting ready" for two years.
She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.
Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.
Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.
Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.
Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Obviously there is something fishy since she stopped responding and then suddenly told you abou tthe accident.Originally posted by insomniac
a week after I last wrote to her, she responds saying she was in a car accident. Her whole e-mail was describing the accident, and she even attached pictures of her totaled car (looked authentic and pretty bad).
Don't really know how to respond. I figured after three days when she didin't respond that she had flaked, and so I stopped caring.

Lithuania...
Even in the "forget about her" situations I like to try something for purely the learning experience. Believe me, I've sabotaged a lot of opportunities for the sake of knowledge.
OK, I know some women are "nice enough" that they'll go out of their way to give you an excuse that will relieve all guilt from their conscience. But let's just for the hell of it say that this isn't one of those, even though it probably is. If it were, then any response is equally pointless. The way I see it...no response equals nothing. Any response equals nothing or 1 out of a 100 something. Why not spend 1 minute composing a short response?
Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.
Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?
You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.
Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
I am not sure what you are trying to say...look:Originally posted by Francisco d'Anconia

I got that she is _here_, working on her degree and she is not somewhere in the Baltics.Originally posted by insomniac
She's from a Baltic republic, mid twenities, working on a graduate degree here the last few years, and seemed to be on the "nice girl" side of the specturm.
Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."
You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.
She's been waiting forty minutes.

No, no. She's been living here less than two miles away the past five years. I agree it'd be a waste of time if otherwise.Originally posted by Francisco d'Anconia

I sent a pithy two sentence reply. Took less than five minutes. That's the end of my effort and thoughts about it.

"How have things been with you? Did you go on your trip to Europe? I just thought I would drop you a line to see if you wanted to talk more.
Well, I am school-free now, however, I feel that I might be going back to school at some point in my life again. I had my brother from back home visiting me here couple weeks ago and we had a great trip to Bryce and Grand Canyons. It felt great there! I am back to wanting to enjoy life and meeting people"
We talked online two months ago but never met, and I'm suspecting she started seeing someone at the time and that's why she didn't respond. It seems that didn't work out, and I'm the backup.
I'm treating this as an experiment, as she's at the bottom of my list and I could care less. What would be the best response?
