Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

In under a month, I will be graduating from all the ups and downs of high school and will be very excited for college this fall.

I am going to a pretty decent private college and am hoping for a "new beginning" - no reps, no histories, etc. since hardly anyone from my school would be going there. However, I've learned 5 or 6 other kids from my school are going there too - most of them I still don't know, but one is a HB 9.5, and it's an intriguing case.

I used to talk to this HB 9.5 during Jr. year, when we were in the same SAT tutoring class and talked often (some kino too). However, a little while after this class ended, we drifted away (I asked her out shortly before we drifted - she said I was a great guy but she said no). Anyway, I still try to keep the communication between us going every once in a while, especially once I learned we're going to the same college - in fact, we're in the same school (communications) and in the same dorm (though is huge and has 2400 students in it).

I mentioned this to another member here on the boards a short while ago (we were talking about colleges and stuff), but was wondering what exactly I do here. I do want a "new beginning" from my high school days (like I was happy not a ton of the kids at my HS weren't going), but this chick does seem like someone I could "get to know better" once we're in college, and I could take advantage of it.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

I don't think you should worry about how to keep in touch but rather what you did wrong in your first encounter. She may not be interested at all or she may have had a boyfriend. If she's not interested...

not exactly...I don't "like" her. I'm not even thinking relationship in college yet (atleast through the first semester/year). I did change a lot since last year as well, so that should help (confidence went way up). I was thinking more in terms to hang out with - and hopefully hook up with as well.

Any help here is appreciated. I tried to clarify what I meant a little bit after LikRetSam's post (he made a very good point, but I don't think that applies to this case at the moment).

I appreciate the advice.

Luke!! , I agree with your point. I want to make a little bit of contact with her through this last month if I can (just a little, not a lot). We'd probably just talk about being excited for college and such, but I'll try to implement some C+F in there.

Now the reason I brought up this seemingly dead thread - I saw another thread about signing yearbooks. I'm preobably getting mine in around two weeks. I'm gonna try to make it something C+F so it leaves a good last impression (view it as waht I do now is the trailer, but college will be the movie).

I dunno if I can use "Hey HB 9.5, I expect to make myself comfortable in your bed at (name of dorm we'll be in) next year ;) " though lol.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.
