"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Met this girl the other week. Decided to call her last night to make plans for Friday. Got her machine so I didn't bother to leave a message. Wanted to check in here before I called again. If I call tonight and get her machine, should I leave a message? If so, what should I say? Should I be funny or just be to the point? Thanks.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Just call back later at a time where she's more likely to be home. For intial phone contact, when you're just setting up a date, avoid talking too much. Maybe make her laugh once or something, but keep it brief, this maximizes the amount of conversation available for the first date.

Good luck.

OK, but how do I rush her off the phone if she wants to get into conversation? I've got some problems cutting it short. Sometimes she wants to talk and talk some more. Any suggestions for getting on and off without getting stuck in conversation?

State the obvious!

"Hey, I'd love to small chat but I gotta run. What are you doing this <insert day> ? " , then set up a date and go from there.

That's good, or if you had already asked just say "Hey, a call is coming in that I'm expecting [call waiting], catch you later." click...

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
