First of all movies, should only be done once in awhile (every 7-8 dates max). You really can't go wrong with a movie if you are a DJ... it's not about the movie it's about you and her. If you are relying on a movie to bring you two together, then you're hopeless. Sometimes it's a good idea to get a movie you know a lot about (enlighten her with something you know).

In all seriousness, I would find out what type of movies she likes. You don't necessarily need to watch chick flicks everytime, but I think comedies would be popular with most women. Romantic comedies mixed in with action comedies seems like a winner.

In my honest opinion, try to make sure its a bad movie. You don't want something very engrossing or you'll have a harder time phase-shifting into intimacy. All the movie is is a pre-text for isolation anyway. If she wants to be alone with you, she'll take the bait, no matter how terrible the movie is.

I avoid movies unless we're already intimate. Trying to use a movie to get a woman in the mood who isn't already into you via a movie is usually a fools errand.
I have found that watching some of the "reality shows" such as the Real World helps as a catalyst to find out about your girl and what drives her. Shows like that is a emotional time bomb not only for the actors but also for most people who watch the show.
Watch your girl to see how she reacts to the show and listen to what she says. Notice when she sits back and crosses her arms, notice when she sits on the edge of the couch listening intently. These are signs of what ticks her off and what inspires her respectively.
Finally, if you really want to get into her head, during the commercials ask her "So what do you think about that?" Most times she'll tell you in no uncertain terms. The problem would just be getting her to stop.
