Getting Myself out of this Financial PIT?

So here's the deal. I have some financial problems.

First off is my credit card. After getting one a few months ago, I managed to rack up my limit of $1,000. I am now paying the minimum monthly charges. However, I need to get this off my back because I do not want it to screw up my credit for the future.

Second off, I don't seem to make enough to actually invest anything!

Right now I work about 20 hours per week and go to school. After taxes, I make around $7/hour at crappy jobs (cashier, washing dishes, cleaning), leaving me with about $140 per week. That equates to about $560 per month. After rent, I barely have enough to live on (luckily I get some food money subsidized).

Point is, it seems impossible for me to get into investments and such when I am barely pulling in enough money to subsist in a meager lifestyle!

How is $1,000 in credit card debt going to screw up your credit?

You're a big boy, you ran up the tab now figure out how to pay if off. That how you build credit!

And hold your horses, cowboy. You're only what, 18? And you want to be making an outrageous salary so you can invest? Read the books, build the credit, and eventually you will be ready to do something.

Str8up is right. $1000 is nothing to worry about, just keep paying it down and don't add to it and you will be okay. It won't hurt you to hold a little bit of CC debt for awhile.
