I have mixed feelings about this topic.. I think one reason we don't understand the friend zone is that we sometimes see examples that counter it.
For the most part and Neil Strauss mentioned this in a book, i used to like to sleep with women as soon as possible. Obviously for the physical need but also to get a key relationship goalpost out of the way.. then there is no ambiguity that your interest in each other is physical.
I have however really enjoyed the chase and with my wife.. well i had to wait a little. I loved the challenge at the time. Now i wonder.. maybe it was a sign that we weren't as compatible in the end.. which is where i'm at now.. I don't think she has ever been the kind that someone gets into bed easily and her bodycount is low.. but the wait.. well when i had to wait it definitely had some level of her not being sure about me.
Although the women where the passion strikes hot and heavy quickly.. that can also flame out quickly. These are normally the ones that were physically attracted to me the first night but maybe neither of us have alot in common.
Another key thing i'm noticing now is that online sipping can work for some men.. the only reason i think this works is that the woman gets her emotional needs met from afar. Women actually like this while simultaneously they pine away thinking about a guy who isn't physically in their presence on a daily basis. Its causing a lot of problems for people now specifically with regards to infidelity etc.
