as long as your not a complete loser, you'll definitely get in. Be cool to all the brothers, do everything they ask you to do (all requirements) and you're fine.
Frat guys basically do everything people mentioned. You have lots more friends. People say, ya, you're paying $500 for friends (500 being dues a semester), but you're getting LOTS of connections. More brothers = meeting more girls = more poontang.
Parties are the best thing about the frats. Towards the winter months when u can't party outside, you're going to be wishing u were in a frat if u cant go to bars (at least thats how it is at UConn).
my best advice is join a frat. If you end up not liking it after u join, you can always go inactive (meaning u dont pay dues or are required to go to meetings).
