"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

My sister began bıtching today about how these girls nowadays are just a bunch of immature brats ending the rant in "what a bunch of stupid kuntz!" I asked what the hell happened, and she tells me she got flaked on by an out of state friend. She was texting up until the night prior to their hang out day and all of a sudden she went ghost. Nothing. No cancelling, not a word about another meetup, zero. Her friend left today and that was that, and my sister is baffled on how these girls can act the way they do. She couldn't believe how things just vaporized.

I, of course, start laughing my aṣṣ off. I told her "now you know what us guys go through!

Girls will flake on their own kind, their moms, dads, cousins, grandparents, the guy from the pharmacy who just got her digits, and on you. I don't know if it's due to growing up on the internet and thinking people can just go away with a click of a button or what, but it is now apparently coded in their DNA.

So, fellow So Suavers, don't get overly upset at these attention-seeking, food photographing, Twitter-Facebook-obsessed females of today when they flake, lie, and ignore you. In fact, expect it. If things go well consider it a bonus. If things don't, you just got rid of one more useless female that need not be in your life. Either way, you still win.

Thanks.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

To be fair, a lot of guys I know are awful flakes. One of my friends is in my phone as "Jon the Flake".

But people are of course less likely to flake from low-pressure, fun situations that they reckon they're going to gain something from... So stay away from creating the opposite and people shouldn't flake.
