I didn't see the whole game, just the last 5 minutes of it. Pretty amazing how the Italians scored two goals within just three two minutes...

The Germans must all be crying right now...

And what's you guys bet for tomorrow?

I say France beats Portugal 1 : 0!

Go France! Aller les Bleus!

I think France will be capable of winning maybe even 3-0 or something like that.

Soccer players still display the most bizarre and dramatic antics when they score goals...especially the Italians.

Totti sucking his thumb, Luca Toni doing something wierd against Ukraine and then Fabio Grasso shaking his head like no, no...when he scored.

I think Italy will go into the final with the upper hand whether they play France or Portugal. Lippi's tactics are so malleable and (gasp) positive, I can't see them losing.

I wouldnt say that the match was one sided. Germany had their chances, but Italy deserved the win! They played much faster in this match than previously! They need to do this to win the final!

Maldini was great, Shearer was my favourite player a decade ago, but I dont think he was up there with guys like Zidane. Zola, top top player, but no way with Zidane IMHO. Baggio was awesome! But again I put Zidane above him. Fair call about Ronaldo not being on top for a long period, but in his time, he was incredible, at the top of his game, he was as good as anyone. Ronaldinho has been around for more than three years, I would say five. He was a great player before the last WC, performed in the cup, and has ever since, the man definatley has the potential, not to mention wins in the Coppa America, WC, Spanish and Champions leagues. Practically done it all.

But Zidane, prooved more than Platini ever did, and Platini is a living legend. Zidane, wins in Champions league, Spanish, Italian, Euro and WC, not to mention maybe a second WC win for France, incredible considering they have never won a WC before in their history. Zidane for me takes my pick for now, considering just viewing him tells me he is the greatest, the man and the way he seems to just create space is incredible. Will be interesting to see how Robben and Messi come up though, they are still very very young, especially Messi. Barring injury, these two could be living legends of the game, big call, but I think both have the potential.

France 1-0 Portugal.

Italian V France final will be HUGE!

And the Frings thing was definately them trying to get an edge, no doubt. They did not find the pictures of him for fairness, that is obvious. But fairs fair, the were entitled to do so.

Ingerland? Is that a combination of Ireland and England and "er"?

In Italy, every popular player has his way of celebrating when he scores and they also are usually called by nicknames related to their "shows". For example, we call Totti "The baby", because he sucks his thumb. Vincenzo Montella used to run with his arms open wide, so he was called "The Airplane" and so on...

I've watched that episode a hundred times and now Portugal is one of the top teams in the World (and Mexico is in the top 10 of FIFA's rankings too!):)

I agree, it was a very balanced game.

I totally agree with Zidane being probably the best. I've done a survey with my friends while we were watching the match and everyone said that Zidane was the best, with Baggio immediately after. Ronaldinho is a "commercial" player, meaning he's good for TV because he can dribble and play tricks, but he's not an overall good player like Zidane, Baggio, Zola or Shearer. Ronaldinho is probably the best "trick player" ever, but nothing more than that. Plus, he's not been this good for 5 years: 5 years ago he was just a young good player, he became one of the best no more than 3 years ago.

IMO, Platini was still a whole lot better than Zidane ever was. That guy won the "Best Player of the World" 3 times in a row if I don't mistake myself. He was incredible. The best player of the 80s after Maradona and, maybe, Van Basten.

Obviously we were trying to get an edge, dude! We missed De Rossi (IMO, the best player after Buffon and Cannavaro) for FOUR MATCHES because of something similar, so why should have they been able of playing Frings? I'm serious, answer this question. Why would have been fair for them to play Frings against us if we couldn't play De Rossi?

I said its fair that Frings gets he ban, I was stating that its ignorant to think it was done out of fair play by the Italian behalf and not to get an advantage. They did it for one reason, and that was to get Frings out of the match to give Italy a better chance of winning.

Platini was great, but Zidane has also won world player of the year three times, does it matter if its consecutive? I dont think so. I have heard numerous frenchmen call Zidane BETTER than Platini. Van Basten was definatley one of the other greats of that era, along, of course, with Diego, who was the best of that era IMHO.

Ronladinho is a great trick player, but I dont agree, I think his not just commercial but truly great. He is an excellent dead ball specialist, controls the match, scores numerous goals, reads a game to perfection, puts through some incredible through balls. He has speed, he has it all (other than maybe he could do with a bit more strength). Ask Eto'o just how great Ronladinho is, thanks to him, Samuel is the top scorer in Spain. Not to mention, winning the title and the champions league speak for itself. Sure, there are other great players on Barca, but Ronaldinho was the standout for me. Commercial and simply a trick player? Definatley not. But I do agree, he is the best trick player on the ball that has ever lived. Just watching some of the things he does in training is breathtaking.

OUAIOUAIOUAIOUAI

Cristiano Ronaldo crying following a loss: is there a more beautiful sight in sport?

The Portuguese play the game exactly the way it shouldn't be played. The constant diving and whining exhibited by their side is one of the major reasons I believe soccer is not a major sport in America.

Italians are considered divers, but today Cristiano Ronaldo has fallen many more times than Totti has ever done in his whole career. I love his play, but today he was totally unfair-playing.

Yeah, Portugal are shocking, along with Italy, they are the worlds biggest divers!

Was a close game though, and its sad to see a match decided by a penalty kick! Ronaldo did well considering he had 2 men on him whenever he touched the ball, and at one time 3. Miguel is ever improving, and he and Cristiano Ronaldo I think were also key performers of the tournament, moreso than Henry I beleive (and Henry is one of my all-time favourite players).

Italy V France will be tough, should be an interesting match. I wonder if they will use Trezeguet, or if Zidane can administer another masterclass.

Portugal V Germany will also be interesting, should see a very free flowing match, considering its not as important match now and the fact that Germany has played free flowing football all tournament.

I have a feeling Italy might take it, just cant crack that defence! Although, I could never write off France, as I have said all tournament. Germany will outplay Portugal I beleive, in a very entertaining and tightly contested match.
