I think that getting used to hold eye contact is a good way to start if you're a complete noob. I used to do that to randomies across the room and it made me feel more confident. Girls were more receptive. They would smile sometimes, look at me up and down.

eye contact is a powerfull stuff actually... recently I've approached a group of girls two years younger than me at my school... I've just joked with them and was focused on one of them... well I met her the next day again but I was just passing by and I told her something that was related to the things I joked about... well anyway I've run onto her later again and she didn't seem very receptive of me but I just keept looking at her while she was passing by me and when she was close to me she looked to my eyes I was smiling at her... since then whenever she is passing me by she is looking at me and smiling... I did the same thing with other girl too and the outcome is basically the same... the only downside is that they are both girls from my school and I really don't want to **** in my own bed so I'm not going to try to make them go out with me or anything but it's still a good practice...
