I applied to a job which I felt was a good fit but it fell through. Suffice it to say, I didn't show up to the interview and didn't steal the show. Its a tough loss to shoulder, but you make your own breaks.
This leaves a pretty broad window of opportunity for me now. I have been contemplating trying to get a temp job within my field overseas for years. The purpose of this thread is to ask a few general questions to those who might have some pointers. Here they are:
1- Will the language barrier prove to be a hindrance? Which countries are better for English speakers to apply too? I speak a little french and would likely pick it up, but do not speak any other languages.
2- What are online resources to submit my CV to for engineering jobs? Non-engineering jobs? If the opportunity is right , its worth consideration even if its outside of my training.
3- Anyone with experience mind telling how their opportunities played out for them? was it worth it? Did they acquire marketable skills in their field? This bullet is important since any time investment should have a return on value , even if its non monetary.
I am a mechanical engineer by training and have worked for a number of years in research, the medical device field, and in business (the failed venture from other posts). My first priority is to get a job within my field, but am willing to explore anything which could be interesting and broaden my horizon. I am thinking of European countries like France, or eastern Europe, but anything interesting/worthwhile will get my attention.
any feedback is welcome. My life has been better than it is now so getting the first step towards the right direction is key.
thanks for listening.
