Very important I'm sure. I'm bad at empathizing and wanted to hear from others

Emotional Intelligence is not really essential for short term flings.

But if you have any long term aspirations, then it's absolutely necessary. The more the better. Of course, it's only one trait out of many that make a well rounded person. Definitely not a shortcut, and definitely not only applicable to creating attraction in ladies.

Being able to read between the lines, or to "read the air" as they say in Japan, is highly dependent on emotional intelligence.

If you were in sales, for example, having more emotional intelligence would be a huge asset, all else equal.

Despite beliefs to the contrary, all humans (not just ladies) are extremely emotional and rarely logical.

We ain't vulcans, that's for sure.

"Emotional intelligence"
It's an oxymoron like 'jumbo shrimp'.

Logic and emotion are not friends.:p

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

That phrase is referring to how well someone can read and express emotions. And it’s describing the intelligence one has with emotions. Hence the ‘-al’ after emotion. Plus, ‘emotion’ was placed before ‘intelligence’. It would have been oxymoronic had that been reversed but it isn’t. Syntax and suffixes are key to determining what this means here. You don’t even have to have prior knowledge about what this is if you understand English very well.
