But if you have any long term aspirations, then it's absolutely necessary. The more the better. Of course, it's only one trait out of many that make a well rounded person. Definitely not a shortcut, and definitely not only applicable to creating attraction in ladies.
Being able to read between the lines, or to "read the air" as they say in Japan, is highly dependent on emotional intelligence.
If you were in sales, for example, having more emotional intelligence would be a huge asset, all else equal.
Despite beliefs to the contrary, all humans (not just ladies) are extremely emotional and rarely logical.
We ain't vulcans, that's for sure.

Plus, ‘emotion’ was placed before ‘intelligence’. It would have been oxymoronic had that been reversed but it isn’t. Syntax and suffixes are key to determining what this means here.
