Rogue makes a good point. Eat at the bar. When I see a guy doing that, I think nothing of it. Just a guy grabbing a bite. Plus, when at the bar, you'll be a target for all of the gals in there. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. YOU ARE JUST GETTING SOMETHING TO EAT!

I'm currently single, which means that I go out to lunch/dinner alone at LEAST once a week. Yes, I love to cook, but there's no social interaction in it, every time.

Do I care whether it's creepy or not (or whatever else it is perceived as)? No.

I want to eat. I have money. I'm going. End of story.

What I HAVE noticed over the years is that people (specially men) who go to eat alone are approached a lot more by waitresses, or other women in general, than if you go with other people.

A lot of times I had waitresses sit down with me to take a break and just chat, or other people having meals as well. Since you aren't there with anyone else, you are receptive to anyone else around you... and they see you as such.

It helps a lot with building social interaction as well. Your table is no longer a boundary, it becomes the whole restaurant instead. You are no longer limited in your range of people.
