In our endless pursuit of clarity we're always looking to put up a front when it comes to our relationships and the way we handle issues. I'm telling you now that your ego will do nothing but fvck you up in every way. Learn to listen to your gut; what Keyes calls your "little man". My little man has NEVER done me wrong. Only when my ego needed a boost would I allow the kid in me to briefly take over. I have since rectified that by thinking things through and envisioning the future from multiple points of view. Since then my congruence has become more streamlined and direct. I think what has really helped me is by studying and practicing Existentialism. Kant, Heidegger and Sartre being the most helpful.

You guys having issues really outta think about taking a philosophy course or reading a few books. One in particular being Irrational Man by William Barrett. Wonderful starting point.

I completely agree what with what you're saying, although I tend to prefer Aristotle since he can actually write. Kant's Critique of Pure Reason has to be the worst writing I've ever encountered.

Seriously, though, when we talk of ego are we talking the Freudian ego in which it regulates our actions or the ego we think about on a day to day basis which basically some form of narcissism?

As for me I've done away with existentialism, especially after that paper for a college course I wrote. It was finding existential meaning in the music of the Rolling Stones I titled it "You, Kant, always get what you want"

I actually do prefer Nietzsche. Which I feel would be beneffical to all aspiring DJs. "The will to power" and all that good stuff.

I don't consider Neitzsche to be a true Existentialist. I think him to be more of a stauch nihilist and postmodernist.

How can anyone believe him to influence DJ philosophy when he supposedly died a virgin?

Yeah Nietzsche wasnt an existentialist at all. And he may have been a virgin when he died (some say he may have been gay). However I find his "Will to Power" idea very much living up to the ideal of a DJ even if he was all talk.

Like I said brother, Learn to leggo your ego. Once you realize the small (and sometimes the big) sh!t don't matter you can see things as they truly are.
