Disabling audio recording notification on Android to record approaches

For me at least it's difficult to pay attention to an approach while also taking mental notes of whatever mistakes I am making, e.g. talking too fast, saying something off-putting, whatever.

It occured to me that I could record audio on my phone and review the recording afterwards. The issue with this is that on my Android there's a big bright symbol in the notification bar to indicate that audio is being recorded. Obviously a big problem if I hand my phone to a girl to put her number in and she notices.

I've tried googling for solutions but to no avail. I couldn't find an app that doesn't do this and disabling the apps' notifications in settings doesn't help either, the apps just refuse to record, even the third party ones.

One of you guys must've experienced this same issue so I hope I'll get a solution here. If not, I guess I'll have to get an indepandant audio recorder. Feel free to drop the solution for iOS also, in case someone with an iPhone is running into the same difficulties.

I wouldn't recommend self-recording your own approaches.

In most of those YouTube videos where approaches are recorded, it is mostly a secondary person doing the recording.

Keep your Android phone. Go out and make approaches. Only collect contact info after she agrees to an actual first date plan with you. Getting a woman's phone number without an actual date plan in place is worthless.

It is more hassle than it is worth.

Additionally, recording audio without video isn't as helpful as the video/audio combination provides a more comprehensive view of the entire communication process. Audio alone recordings don't add a lot of value.

There is like programs and root kits or whatever you call them, out there, that when installed on a rooted device record everything. Record the mic, camera, calls, messages, passwords, etc, and everything is stored for you on a web page. People install these for themselves to have record of all calls, usually. I don't know the name, but this could be a direction for your research. In the end, you'd get a phone that can be setup to record surroundings, basically.
