Just a general question. I notice a lot of guys in my gym tend not to do them, especially the heavier guys. It's rare to see a 200lb+ person do them where I go.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

They are much easier for smaller guys. I remember having a pull-up competition every year in junior high school. The kid who won was always nearly the smallest kid.

The Marines have pull-ups in their physical fitness test, at least for men. The points max out at 20 reps.

I hardly do chin ups as the extra extension required to get chin above the bar hurts my shoulders. This is exacerbated by the fact that I usually do weighted pull ups w/ 90-100 lbs around my waist and have shoulder problems. I do pull ups on a regular basis... where the bar gets to around eye-nose level during the pull phase.

My record for pull ups is 27 in a row. I believe I was in the high 160 lb range at the time. Right now, when I'm fresh I can usually cork out 23-24. Currently body weight is 172. Being lighter definitely helps a lot.

Max I've done is 3 sets of 8 at the end of a workout. Dead-hang, no hip swing. Maybe 12 in a row if I'm fresh. BW 80kg.

My Dad is very good at this. I saw him pumped out 40 at 56 years old. He said he could do 100 at my age. He's only about 63kg though. That was one of his main exercises as he's never had access to weights or anything fancy.

My max is 7 but i always do them at the end of my workout. Once saw a girl
doing 3 sets of 15, she put me to shame!

I do at least four sets when I hit the gym and I average about 13 reps in a set. My max is 17. :)
