Car Insurance Discrimination

Why is it that women get lower car insurance rates than men? I don't buy this "studies show men are higher risk driver." If a study showed that black drivers were higher risk, would it be alright to charge them more across the board? Of course not. There would be lawsuits.

My sister, who is 17 years old, has had 3 tickets and been in 2 accidents. She had a suspended license for 6 months. I am 20 and have never had a ticket nor accident. She has lower car insurance rates than me. Why is this legal?

No, but why is it allowed to happen. It would not be allowed to happen by the government if any other group but men were charged higher. If Gays, Blacks, Jews, etc got charged higher (even if the studies said they were higher risk) it would be stopped.

Men drive more aggressively and women just drive worse. Driving aggressive has potential for more serious accidents and injuries.

p.s. compare the ratio of average salary and average insurance rate and you'll see they are about the same for men and women.

Ya...I know what you mean. I drive safely. Sometimes even old people pass me (but only the old people who happen to drive really fast, and some do).

But my auto insurance still costs me more per month than what my mother or father pay over six months.

But then again, my father has never *knock on wood* been in an accident (where he was at fault) during his entire time of driving. Ditto for my mother, and they're both in their 50s.
