Whether you're using DB or BB, it will build muscle. DB will hit different muscles in the chest then the BB, same thing with the BB. I do BB, DB and a bench press machine. Not all on the same day, but I switch them around during the week. They will all hit the muscle in a different way and make it stronger and harder.

BB does not hit muscles that DB doesn't, but DB hits some the BB doesn't. DB is the better muscle and functional strength builder hands down.
